I woke up today to an absolute social media frenzy – Taylor Swift is releasing her version of This Love from ‘1989’ today!
It’s featured in a trailer for Jenny Han’s new film ‘The summer I turned pretty’. But this isn’t all. If you venture over to Swift’s merchandise shop, you’ll notice that not only is there a countdown for the release of the new song, but also brand new ‘1989’ AND ‘Speak Now’ merch!
For those of you who have no idea what’s going on, Swift announced that she will be re-releasing her first six albums after Scooter Braun bought the original albums in 2019. So far she’s released ‘Fearless’ and ‘Red’, along with her single Wildest Dreams from ‘1989’.
We’ve all been waiting to see which album she’s going to re-release next (and when), so could this be it? Could ‘1989’, and potentially ‘Speak Now’, be on their way?
In a post by Taylor Swift talking about the release of This Love, she writes the word midnight with spaces in between, which some are speculating is a nod to another ‘1989’ track, Blank Space. This of course is leading people to believe that this is yet another hint towards the re-release of the much-anticipated album.
I don’t even know what to think – I got my hopes up for a ‘1989’ re-release last year after she brought out Wildest Dreams, so I really hope that this time there will actually be an album. It’s looking likely, though, especially with the new merchandise (which looks amazing, dibs on the ‘1989’ blue jumper!).
“And I could go on and on”, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Blondie has in store for us.
For now, let’s get ready for This Love, coming out at 2pm today!
