Summer is about to get even better with the release of the plant-based Golden Gaytime for all my dairy-free and vegan pals.
The demand for plant-based treats has continued to increase, and Australian food companies like Streets, Allen’s, Grill’d and The Natural Confectionary Co. have added plant-based snacks to meet the growing demand.
It’s no secret that Golden Gaytime lovers have been pushing for the iconic ice cream to be released in a vegan-friendly option for years. Finally, we can say that Streets have delivered!
The 2021 petition to get a vegan-friendly option on the market did not go unnoticed, and its release has proved to be a win for plant-based fans of the Golden Gaytime.
After a two-week-long road trip to all the supermarkets in the western suburbs of Melbourne, I finally got my hands on a box.
If you’re worried the plant-based option will compromise its classic flavour, you shouldn’t be. It still has your favourite biscuit crumb and that delicious toffee-flavoured centre. And the best part is it tastes almost exactly like the original.
5/5 for maintaining the iconic flavour, texture and price point, which has 4 of the delicious treats for $9.50 per box.
And a big yes for not making us feel sick afterwards— dairy-sensitive people, you will thank me later.
It’s a big call, but I can confidently say that these are the best dairy-free ice creams I’ve had!
If you don’t believe me, you should try them for yourself!
The plant-based Golden Gaytime is now available in IGA and Coles supermarkets in Australia.
